Rebels Rise in the AP Poll despite SEC setback

The new AP Top 25 women’s college basketball poll just dropped, and it’s all about the action! The Texas Longhorns have surged to No. 3 after clinching the SEC title, while Duke made a bold jump to No. 8. West Virginia climbed to No. 12, and UConn holds strong at No. 1 as postseason play approaches.

Where do Coach Yo and the Rebels stand after their SEC semifinal loss to Texas (85-68)? Remarkably, they’ve risen four spots to No. 19 with a solid record of 23-11. Cotie McMahon has been phenomenal this season, scoring over 20 points against ranked opponents eight times—the third most in DI history! She’s racked up 675 points, marking her as one of the top scorers in Rebel history.

“This has just been such a challenging season for us; there have just been so many lessons that we learned through it all. I am just grateful for the opportunity to experience those because we are going to learn from them and use them as we try to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament,” said Coach McPhee-McCuin following the Rebels Saturday.

Stay tuned as the Rebels gear up for their NCAA journey!
