Madi George is greeted at home plate Wednesday night after going yard in Oxford.
Ole Miss softball won for the sixth time in its last seven games on Tuesday evening in Oxford, as the Rebels took a 10-2 decision over Central Arkansas in a game that was called in four-and-a-half innings due to the mercy rule. Ole Miss improved to 12-5 on the season, while UCA dipped its record to 9-7.
Emilee Boyer worked the five-inning game from start to finish for the Rebels. Boyer tossed a five-inning complete game, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks. She struck out three.
Boyer allowed both runs in the top of the first but then settled into a nice rhythm. After giving up two runs in the top of the first, Ole Miss responded with a five-spot of its own in the Rebels first at-bat to lead the game 5-2 heading into the second.
From that point forward, Boyer found her groove to close out the Sugar Bears.
Hitting from the third spot, first baseman Persy Llamas was the only Rebel to finish with multiple hits, as she went 2-for-3.
Designated player Taylor Roman, catcher Madi George and Kennedy Bunker each homered in the game. Roman’s was a three-run shot over the left field wall as part of the Rebels’ first-inning explosion. Kennedy Bunker nailed a two-run dinger in the bottom of the third which traveled over the right field fence. George blasted a solo homer over right-center in the fifth.
