Men’s golf tied for third in Florida

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla – The No. 9 Ole Miss men’s golf team sits in third place through two rounds at the Watersound Invitational. Freshman Daniel Tolf holds the 36-hole lead at 10-under par.

The Rebels posted (278, -2) as a team on Tuesday and are 12-under for the tournament.

Tolf had another stellar day at The Third Golf Course at Watersound Club with another five-under 65. He posted three-under 32 on his front nine and two-under 33 on the back.

The Gothenburg, Sweden native holds a four-stroke lead over three players and looks to become the first freshman in nearly 11 years to win an individual title in their rookie campaign. Braden Thornberry was crowned champion his freshman season at the FAU Slomin Autism Invite, March 25-27, 2016 when he posted rounds of 69-67-69.

Tom Fischer was solid today for the Rebels with a round of two-under 68, placing him just outside the top 20 heading into tomorrow’s final round.

Ole Miss ranked second in par 3 and par 4 scoring on the day. The final round will begin at 9 a.m. CT Wednesday morning with a shotgun start.
