Missouri transfer Lilly Whitten constructed a no-hitter on Friday, as Ole Miss softball defeated zTexas A&M-Corpus Christie 8-0 in game one of the second day at the Ragin’ Cajuns Invitational in Lafayette, La.
Whitten worked a six-inning, complete game, jewel to improve her record to 3-0 on the season. The game was called after six due to the tournament’s run rule.
Ole Miss improved to 5-3. The Rebels are set to play the host Ragin’ Cajuns at 1:30 p.m. CT.

Whitten allowed no hits, three walks and struck out four in her masterpiece.
Outfielder Taylor Malvin led the Rebels’ offensive onslaught with a 3-for4 effort at the plate driving in one run. Shortstop Cassie Reasner was the only other multiple-hit hitter for Ole Miss, as she went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
The Rebels wasted no time setting the tone as they took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first. First baseman Persy Llamas got the scoring started with an RBI single. Reasner then followed with a run-scoring single of her own before Mckenna Bellaire ripped a two-run single.
Ole Miss scratched out another run in the third to extend its lead to 5-0.
The Rebs weren’t done. Ole Miss scored twice in the fifth when the speedy Ryan Starr stole home and speedster Tenley Grisham crossed the plate on a single back to the circle.
Madi George closed out the scoring in the sixth with an RBI single.
