No. 13 Ole Miss women roll over Auburn

The 13th-ranked Ole Miss women had little trouble in their new, temporary home-away-from home Monday night, as the Rebels easily handled the Auburn Tigers 71-45. The victory, which was the third in a row for Ole Miss, improved head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin’s squad to 19-4 overall and to 6-2 in the SEC.

Auburn dropped to 13-10 and to 2-7 in league play.

The game was moved from Ole Miss to Brimingham’s Legacy Arena due to lasting effects on the recent ice storm in Oxford where some residents still remain without power.

Ole Miss took the lead over Auburn at the 3:41 mark of the first quarter and led the rest of the way. The Rebels simply dominated the Tigers for the final three quarters.

That dominance was led in large part by the play of Ohio State transfer Cotie McMahon. She scored 20 points, reaching that milestone for sixth time in her last seven outings. Christeen Iwuala added 12 points and 11 rebounds for her second straight double-double effort.

Ole Miss now turns its attention to a true road game at Alabama on Thursday. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. CT and the game will be broadcast live on the SEC Network.
