Ole Miss softball’s Persy Llamas has been tabbed to the All-SEC Preseason Team, as the conference announced its preseason honors on Thursday.
Llamas is one of just six true sophomores and eight sophomores in total to earn a spot on the exclusive 21-player list.
Llamas took the SEC by storm as a freshman during the Rebels run to the Women’s College World Series, hitting .354 with 10 home runs and 55 RBI, while striking out only 11 times all season. Llamas’ 55 RBI tied her with teammate Aliyah Binford to set the Ole Miss single season record. The Eastvale, Calif., native would go on to earn All-SEC Second Team and NFCA All-South Region Second Team honors.
Additionally, the Rebels were picked to finish 13th in the SEC’s preseason poll. Defending national champion Texas was picked to the win the SEC.
The Rebels open the regular season on Feb. 5 in a doubleheader at Cal State Fullerton to kick off the season-opening Easton Classic. The doubleheader is set to begin at 7 p.m. CT.
