Ole Miss men’s tennis remains undefeated after a 6-1 victory against Tulane on Friday at the William F. Galtney Indoor Tennis Center.
Despite falling behind early in doubles, the Rebels (5-0) stayed persistent. They earned six straight singles victories to defeat the Green Wave (1-1, 0-0).
In doubles play, Matthieu Chambonniere and Benjamin Martin came out ready to go against the Green Wave. The Rebel duo secured a dominant 6-2 win against Tulane’s Asaf Fiedler and Andres Delgadillo, earning the only doubles victory for Ole Miss.
In the third and final set of doubles on court one, No.11 Isac Stromberg and Kai Milburn faced Daniel Phillips and Lance Nisbet, but ultimately fell short, losing a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-4).
In Singles, Pietro Pampanin picked up the win against Tulane’s Alec Gaudin on court three with a 6-2, 6-2, victory to give the Rebels the first point of the match.
Chambonniere faced Tulane’s Asaf Friedler, a Paris, France, native, who secured a dominating 6-1 first set, followed by a tight 6-4 second set victory to put the Rebels up 2-1.
Martin stayed patient and came out victorious on court five, 6-1, 6-2, against Steven Rice to give the Rebels their third point of the afternoon.
