Ole Miss’ offense never found its rhythm Saturday night, managing just 7 points in a 42-7 home loss to No. 2 Georgia at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
The Rebels (6-3, 4-3 SEC) were held in check for nearly the entire game. Georgia’s defense forced multiple three-and-outs early, limited explosive plays, and kept Ole Miss off the scoreboard until a late fourth-quarter touchdown.
Team Offensive Struggles
Ole Miss finished with approximately 212–252 total yards on the night. The ground game was especially ineffective, producing only 66 rushing yards. The Rebels averaged under 3 yards per carry and struggled to establish any consistent running attack against Georgia’s front.
Passing production reached about 186 yards, but efficiency was low. Ole Miss converted just 6-of-16 third downs and failed to sustain drives for most of the evening. The unit also committed at least one interception and finished with limited time of possession compared to Georgia’s 30-plus minutes.
Georgia, by contrast, piled up roughly 473 total yards (287 rushing, 186 passing) and controlled the line of scrimmage from the opening series.
Individual Performances
Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss completed passes for approximately 170 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. He faced consistent pressure and was unable to generate the big plays that had fueled Ole Miss earlier in the season.
The rushing attack offered little support. Leading rushers combined for modest totals, with no back exceeding 55 yards. Receivers such as Horatio Fields managed some catches (around 96 yards), but the offense rarely moved the chains in critical situations.
Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton exploited the struggles, throwing for 186 yards and four touchdowns while adding a rushing score. Wide receiver Talyn Taylor hauled in 140 yards and multiple touchdowns, and running back Nate Frazier added 107 rushing yards.
Context and Outlook
Ole Miss entered the game with one of the SEC’s more productive offenses but looked out of sync against a physical Georgia defense. The Rebels’ inability to run the ball or protect the quarterback consistently turned the contest into a one-sided affair by halftime, when they trailed 28-0.
Of course, star running back Kewan Lacy was out with a shoulder injury.
The offensive struggles leave Ole Miss with work to do as it closes the regular season. The Rebels will look to bounce back next week at Oklahoma before finishing at home against Wofford and Mississippi State.
