The last time Ole Miss and Mississippi State faced off, both teams were ranked in the Top 25. This season, however, they’ve had a slower start in SEC play. Ironically, as they head into this rivalry weekend, both the Rebels and the Bulldogs share identical records of 10-7 overall and 2-2 in SEC competition.

This matchup not only offers the usual bragging rights for “We Run The Sip,” but it’s also crucial for both teams to find their rhythm if they hope to climb the SEC standings and secure a spot in the NCAA tournament.

Ole Miss seems to have found its footing recently. However, the key question is whether they can maintain that momentum moving forward. The Rebels are playing some of their best basketball right now, having won two straight games in the SEC. In contrast, Mississippi State has struggled lately, dropping their last two games.

This marks the first road win for the Rebels and the most points they have scored in the game this season.

Additionally, they give up an average of 13.2 assists and pull down only 38.6 rebounds per game, ranking them at 178th and a lowly 342nd in Division I, respectively.

Both teams are eager to gain some momentum in the SEC race, which hasn’t quite matched the energy of last season. Despite a slower start for both the Rebels and Bulldogs, there’s still plenty of opportunity ahead if they stay focused. However, tonight, one team will likely find their path more successful than the other. Chris Bears and the Rebels head in this one as the underdogs at +3.5 via BetMGM odds. The game is set to tip off at The Hump in Starkville at 7:30 PM and will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
