Mississippi 5A Offensive Player of the Year Watch: Jaden Allen vs. Kameron Morgan

Allen brings an unbeaten record and passing efficiency, while Morgan holds the edge in total offense and touchdowns accounted for.

Brookhaven’s Jaden Allen and Natchez’s Kameron Morgan offer two different arguments in Mississippi’s 5A Offensive Player of the Year conversation. Allen has helped guide the Panthers to an unbeaten record while producing efficiently through the air. Meanwhile, Morgan has generated more individual offense, combining a productive passing season with more than 1,000 rushing yards.

Their November 5 matchup gives both senior quarterbacks another opportunity to strengthen their cases before the playoffs.

Jaden Allen: Efficiency and an unbeaten run

Allen’s case starts with his efficiency as a passer. He has matched Morgan’s 14 touchdown passes on 38 fewer attempts while completing a higher percentage of his throws. Approximately 12.3% of Allen’s passing attempts have resulted in touchdowns, compared with 9.2% for Morgan.

Furthermore, Allen enters the Natchez matchup following one of his strongest passing performances of the season. Against North Pike, he completed 14 of 19 attempts for 310 yards and four touchdowns, showing how productive he can be when Brookhaven turns to its passing game.

His mobility adds another dimension. Allen has contributed 350 rushing yards and six touchdowns, giving the Panthers another option to move the chains and finish drives.

Brookhaven’s 9–0 record strengthens his candidacy. Allen deserves credit for his contributions to that unbeaten run, although team success remains one part of the evaluation for an individual offensive award.

Kameron Morgan: Production that creates separation

Morgan’s strongest argument is the volume of offense he has produced for Natchez. He has surpassed 1,000 yards both passing and rushing, forcing opponents to account for two scoring threats from the same position.

The rushing comparison provides the clearest separation. Morgan has handled 113 carries, gaining 1,059 yards and scoring 23 touchdowns. Additionally, his 9.37 yards per carry show that his advantage extends beyond receiving more rushing opportunities.

His passing production strengthens that résumé. Morgan has thrown for 1,302 yards and 14 touchdowns against two interceptions. While Allen holds the completion-percentage advantage, Morgan leads in passing yardage and has matched his touchdown total.

Altogether, Morgan averages 262.3 yards of total offense per game. His ability to contribute consistently in both phases gives him the stronger statistical case between these two quarterbacks.

Where the comparison stands

Allen’s argument rests on passing efficiency, timely production and his role in keeping Brookhaven unbeaten. Morgan’s rests on greater combined yardage, a substantial rushing advantage and more touchdowns accounted for.

The numbers establish what each has produced, but they do not fully explain differences in offensive systems, supporting casts or playing time. Those factors deserve consideration alongside the totals.

Based on the reported nine-game numbers, however, Morgan gets the current edge in this comparison. His 910-yard advantage in total offense and 17 additional touchdowns accounted for create meaningful separation.  However, both quarterbacks still have opportunities to strengthen their résumés down the stretch.

Brookhaven travels to Natchez tonight, November 5, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
