Mitchell Turner’s path to Ole Miss has included a moment when he nearly walked away from football. Now, the Louisville defensive lineman is shutting down his recruitment and reaffirming his commitment to the Rebels.
Turner, a 6-foot-3, 275-pound defensive lineman in the 2027 class, made the announcement after a visit to Alabama. He had committed to Ole Miss in June, and his latest message makes clear where he plans to play.
“After talking with my family and taking some time to think, I’ve decided to officially shut down my recruitment. I’m 100% committed to Ole Miss and excited about what’s ahead. I appreciate every coach and program that believed in me,” Turner wrote.
Turner is the highest-ranked commitment in Ole Miss’ 2027 class. His decision gives the Rebels a firm pledge from one of Mississippi’s top prospects after other programs continued to pursue him.
The announcement also caps a remarkable change in direction for Turner. He once considered giving up football; now he is preparing to take the next step in his career with Ole Miss.
Turner will return his focus to Louisville and his senior season before heading to Oxford. His size, strength and ability to disrupt the line of scrimmage give the Rebels a promising addition to their defensive front.
