Paul Finebaum let is feeling be known Monday morning during an appearance on ESPN’s First Take.
Host of his own daily SEC show on the conference’s TV network, the “Mouth of the South” also reaped praise on Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding, who replaced Kiffin in Oxford.
Ole Miss defeated LSU 32-24 Saturday night before more than 70,000 fans in Oxford.
“Lane Kiffin is still the same con man he was before he walked into that stadium,” Finebaum began, “and you just saw it right there in living HD. There’s nothing believable about what he said. He had built everything about going into that stadium and showing Ole Miss that he made the right decision, and ultimately he may have made the right decision.
“But he seemed uptight the entire game. He seemed out of sorts, really more so than I ever seen him, other than when he used to face Nick Saban every year and blow that game because he wanted to win so bad. He told me that once when he couldn’t handle his own emotions when he faced Saban. He almost seemed like a zombie, and his team seemed representative of that untile finally they came alive and nearly pulled it off.”
Finebaum then turned his attention to Golding,
“I thought the most interesting part of the entire game was when Pete Golding, who probably would never been a head coach had Lane Kiffin not left (Ole Miss). He wasn’t on anybody’s hot list. He scored to go ahead, and instead of doing what almost every other coach in America did, he did something Lane Kiffin would have done. He went for two points and psychologically put a dagger through Lane Kiffin’s heart,” continued Finebaum.
