Ole Miss has class. Lane Kiffin does not.
Here’s Kiffin said Saturday night after his LSU Tigers were out down by Ole Miss in a 32-24 final.
“I think you walk into a storm,” Kiffin said. “That’s what happens a lot of times in these games. You see it all the time — you walk in, it’s a build up. The stadium was full an hour early, so I guess I had to leave to get them to do that. You’re welcome.”
And thank you for leaving Lane Kiffin.
And could you imagine if the tables were turned and that game played out in Baton Rouge?
On the flip side, much of the build-up surrounding this game was centered on Ole Miss fans and Kiffin. Would there be enough hate for the coach who abandoned the Rebels just prior to the school’s first ever appearance in the College Football Playoffs late last year to see golf balls, mustard and whatever else thrown at Kiffin at every turn?
Security was thick in Oxford on Saturday.
One of the biggest wins goes to the Ole Miss fanbase and student body. Sure, there were hisses and boos thrown Kiffin’s way, and deservedly so. Credit goes to athletic director Keith Carter and chancellor Glenn Boyce, too. They pulled off a pretty clean sheet in one of the classics in a rivalry that dates back more than a hundred years.
This morning we are all proud to be Ole Miss Rebels.
