Meet our prospect evaluation team

OleMiss365.com will release its first set of rankings for football prospects in the state of Mississippi on Feb.1 for the 2027 class. The 2028 class will be released on Feb. 2, followed by the 2029 class on Feb. 3 and the 2030 class on Feb. 4.

The site will then move on to rank the Top 25 players for each of the states of Louisiana, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Texas and Oklahoma.

“OleMiss365.com has assembled an incredible team of talent evaluators, who will work under the guidance of national recruiting director Marcus Dent,” according to executive editor David Johnson,

“We are building a prospect data base that will be accurate,” said Johnson. “Our team of evaluators are experienced and see the kids on Friday nights. They know the kids. They are coaches, trainers, even former NFL players.”

The team, under Dent, is made up of former Ole Miss and NFL wide receiver Mike Espy, MissLou recruiting specialist Shedrick McKenzie, Dent, Johnson, Darby McRainie and Lee Ann Herring.

Dent’s areas include North Mississippi, Alabama and the nation at-large, while McKenzie handles south Mississippi and Louisiana. Espy specializes in the Jackson-metro area with a nationwide emphasis on wide receiver and skill positions. Herring will focus her attention on the state of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and the southwest.

“McKenzie is a former basketball player at Alcorn State and knows a great athlete when he sees him,” Dent said. “We’ve been working with him the last several years through the Southern Elite Combine Series, and we’ve been impressed with his work. We are extremely excited to have Shed(rick) on board.”

Mike Espy

Espy, too, received rave reviews.

“Mike Espy knows talent,” Johnson said. “Period. It’s kind of cool. I can text him and ask him to write me a scouting report on a player and within 10 minutes I have it. And it is accurate. He’s a great writer, too. Just wait. Everyone will see.”

Dent called Espy one of the best talent evaluators and developers in America.

“Lee Ann Herring actually lives in Houston, Texas, so she is in a hotbed of high school talent. I don’t think she ever misses a Friday night of high school football,” said Johnson.

“Darby is a football fanatic for a football-crazed town down in Picayune. He will also assist in evaluations,” said Johnson.

This year’s 365.com MegaCamp will be hosted by head coach Mickey Joseph at Grambling State on May 30. The entire OleMiss365.com prospect team will be there.
