Ole Miss is still alive in the race for five-star running back David Gabriel Georges, but the Rebels have some work to do heading into his commitment announcement.
Pete Golding and his staff have been after Georges for a long time, and they’ve done enough to stay in the conversation with Tennessee and Ohio State. That’s saying something considering he’s one of the top running backs in the entire 2027 class.
Right now, Tennessee appears to have the momentum, while Ohio State is still right there. Ole Miss isn’t being picked by most recruiting insiders, but the Rebels haven’t gone away either. The relationships Golding’s staff built throughout the process have kept Ole Miss in the mix until the very end.
If the Rebels can pull this off, it would be a huge win for the program. Georges would instantly become the headliner of Ole Miss’ 2027 class and give Golding one of his biggest recruiting victories since taking over as head coach. It could also create momentum with several other top recruits still making decisions later this cycle.
The announcement is set for Wednesday, and Ole Miss fans will be hoping for one last surprise. It may not be the favorite, but until Georges puts on a hat, the Rebels still have a chance.
