The move changes the recruiting landscape.
The 6-foot-5, 260-pound lineman recently earned an Ole Miss offer after an outstanding camp performance. Playing roughly 50 miles from Oxford gave the Rebels a major proximity advantage. Now, Hooker will be playing directly in LSU’s backyard.
Hooker already holds offers from Ole Miss, LSU, Mississippi State, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Kansas State, South Alabama and Tulane, making him one of the South’s fastest-rising young prospects.
Ole Miss has not lost its position. The Rebels offered early and built a relationship before Hooker’s recruitment fully exploded. But the pressure has changed.
Oxford is no longer right up the road. Baton Rouge is.
Ole Miss got in early. Now the Rebels must prove they can stay in front.
