Elijah Cox, a standout EDGE defender from Westlake, is scheduled to announce his college commitment on Sunday, July 5, at 2:00 p.m. Central Time (3:00 p.m. Eastern Time).
The Rebels remain a serious contender entering the final stretch of Cox’s recruitment, but they’ll have to beat out a talented group of finalists. Clemson, Georgia Tech, Florida State, and Purdue are all still in the race as decision day approaches. Recruiting buzz continues to indicate Ole Miss is “in a good spot,” though no clear favorite has emerged.
Landing Cox would give Pete Golding another explosive pass rusher and strengthen an already talented 2027 recruiting class.
Recruiting Evaluation
Cox is one of the top EDGE prospects in the 2027 class, combining size, speed, and an explosive first step. He finished last season with 68 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and two pass breakups, showcasing his ability to impact games as both a pass rusher and run defender.
