EUGENE, Ore. – Ole Miss track & field sophomore Jordan Urrutia earned First-Team All-American honors in the men’s 200-meter dash, punctuating a conclusion to the 2026 outdoor season for the men’s team at the NCAA Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field on Friday.
Urrutia’s one point in eighth place marked the first points in the event for Ole Miss since Olympian Isiah Young was national runner-up in 2013. Urrutia took to the blocks in lane two, crossing the finish line at a wind-legal PR of 20.33 (+1.5), narrowly missing his all-conditions personal best by two-hundredths of a second, to help earn his First-Team All-American status.
This caps an excellent 2026 season for Urrutia, who has stamped his name across the Ole Miss record book during his superb sophomore season. Indoors, Urrutia took down Ole Miss records in the 200-meter (20.60), 300-meter (33.06) and was the anchor on the school record 4×400-meter relay (3:06.69), while outdoors he has run the fastest 200 (20.31) since Young’s 2013 record of 20.12 and scored the highest SEC finish (sixth) in the event since Young’s title that same season.
That doesn’t include Urrutia’s exploits on Ole Miss’ 4×100-meter relay, which concluded its historic 2026 campaign on Wednesday evening with a Second-Team All-America finish in 11th place.
Earlier in the day on the infield, senior Arvesta Troupe returned to the site of his national title one year prior, but came up short in his title defense, bowing out in 14th place at 2.16m/7-1 for Second-Team All-America honors.
Troupe concludes his superb Ole Miss career with four All-America awards, 16 NCAA points, three SEC medals, 30.25 SEC points and, most importantly, his 2025 NCAA Outdoor high jump title – the first in school history.
