OMAHA, Neb- Troy and Ole Miss will meet Sunday in an elimination game at the College World Series at Schwab Field in Omaha.

Troy lost a close game to 16-seed West Virginia on a two run rally in the eighth inning to snap a 5-5 tie. The Mountaineers held on for the 7-5 win. The loss snapped a six game win streak for Troy.
The Trojans are now 38-31 on the season. Their battle with Ole Miss is set for 1 p.m. It will be televised on ESPN.
Troy is led by one of the best hitters in the nation in Jimmy Janicki. He is second in the nation with 86 RBIs. He hit is 20th home run of the season Friday against West Virginia. He has a .343 average on the season.
Troy scored four runs in three innings to tie it at 4 against WVU. The Trojans had trouble with Tyrin Hall who drove in four. Sean Darnell had two doubles. There was also a steal of home plate.
Aaron Piasedki is Troy’s second best hitter at .339 with 10 home runs and 48 RBIs. Steven Merie hits .316 45 RBIs. Drew Nelson bats .310 and has batted in 50.
Troy has four primary pitchers. Benjamin Stubbs started Friday. Tony Egan will likely start against the Rebels. He is 6-5 with 99 strikeouts in 87 innings. The ERA is high at 5.38.
Ole Miss will counter with Hunter Elliott who started two games in the 2022 CWS that the Rebels won.
Ole Miss dropped to the Troy game after a 6-2 loss to No. 5 North Carolina.
Troy and the Rebs have several common does. Troy split midweek games with Alabama and Georgia. Both of those are in the other CWS pod.
Troy played USM six times and went 2-4. They lost to USM 6-2 in the Sunbelt Conference title game.
