Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding (far left)
If you locked Pete Golding and Dabo Swinney inside a Tiger’s cage or a Rebel’s den and told them to have at it, my money would be on Golding. Instead, Swinney threw the first sucker punch inside the glass house in which he resides.
Swinney, of course, accused Golding and his Ole Miss program of tampering with now Rebel linebacker Luke Ferrelli while he was already attending classes at Clemson. Swinney’s accusations made national headlines.
Golding was asked about that situation Wednesday at the SEC Spring Meetings at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort in Miramar Beach, Fla.
He didn’t hold back.
“I think a lot of things make headlines,” Golding said. “There’s a lot more people involved that everybody might not know. I’m not gonna sit up here and say whatever we did or we didn’t do, was it right or was it wrong? But, you know, when you go through what we went through (with tampering), and what you’re seeing day-in and day-out, some things you feel like shouldn’t matter that, you know, they’re making a big deal about.”
I could not agree more with Golding.
It sure has seemed lately that the system…outside of the legal system in the Magnolia State…has it in for the Rebels, who are predicted by many to be back in the College Football Playoffs this season. First, there is the garbage that social media Hall of Famer Lane Kiffin has been spewing. And on that, let me say this: There was no damn way you were going to coach our Rebels in the College Football Playoffs. Kudos forever to Chancellor Glenn Boyce and A.D. Keith Carter for their quick decision to hire Pete permanently. No search, no nothing, other than “this is my office now.”
Someone ask Lane about attempts at tampering with the Ole Miss roster.
I digress.

Then comes crybaby Dabo Swinney. “You took my linebacker, wha, wha, wha.”
Lord, help me.
No, you couldn’t keep your linebacker, Dabo.
Now the NCAA is investigating Golding in its best keystone cops impersonation?
Wasn’t it the NCAA who said Trinidad Chambliss could not play college football any longer? Then it got the drawers beat off it by Chambliss’ legal team.
We are not your whipping boy, NCAA.
But you ought to know that by now.
Try fixing the game you claim to govern before fixing us.
