The Southern Elite/365 MegaCamp hosted by Mississippi Valley State takes place this Saturday inside Rice-Totten Stadium in Itta Bena, Miss.
This is the fourth year of the Southern Elite MegaCamp, which has been held previously at MVSU, Mississippi College and Jackson State.
“It is important for us to keep this event inside the state of Mississippi,” said camp co-director Marcus Dent. “It is awesome to be able to bring these schools to kids from our area of the country because they may not be able to travel to far away camps due to economic circumstances. Here, we can bring the colleges to them.”

While there will be plenty of Mississippi prospects at the event, other states are well represented. Prospects are coming to compete from Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana, Alabama, Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Iowa, Kentucky and Illinois.

“This event is designed for every kid,” Dent continued. “There will be schools there from Power 4 to junior colleges and every level in between, We have large groups coming in from Georgia, Texas and Arkansas.”

Ole Miss defensive tackle Will Echoles was a standout at the Southern Elite.
Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Southern Miss, Arkansas, Louisiana-Lafayette, North Carolina State, every junior college in Mississippi and many other programs are expected to attend. All told, more than 50,college programs will be at the event.

Kansas City Chiefs starting center Creed Humphrey, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen and wide receiver DK Metcalf are all alums of the Southern Elite Combine. All are NFL superstars.
“Minot State, a D2 program from North Dakota is even coming for the MegaCamp,” said Dent. “We have schools coming from all over the USA. There is even a junior college coming from California.”

Former and current Ole Miss players who have competed in the Southern Elite include Echoles, Patterson, Metcalf, Eli Johnson, Willie Hibbler, Sean Rawlings, Daronte Bouldin and others.
The Southern Elite/365 megaCamp is open to all prospects entering grades 9-12 for the upcoming school year, as well as all NCAA transfer portal prospects and junior college players.
