The loss positions Ole Miss at 34-24 as the Rebels await Sunday night’s announcement of the NCAA Tournament field. Texas advances to face the winner between tonight’s Oklahoma and Georgia contest in Friday’s semifinal game.
The story of the game was Texas pitcher Teagan Kavan, who shut down the Ole Miss offense. Kavan (20-4) tossed a seven-inning complete game, allowing just two hits and walk while striking out nine.
Ole Miss countered with Emilee Boyer (12-13). Boyer worked five innings, giving up six runs on five hits and five base on balls.

The two Ole Miss hits were collected by outfielders Tenly Grisham and Taylor Malvin, both singles.
Texas led 1-0 after two innings and 4-0 heading into the fourth. The Longhorns pushed across their final two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The loss closed out a successful run in Lexington for the Rebels. Ole Miss defeated South Carolina on Tuesday before eliminating Tennessee on Wednesday.
