Is Ole Miss defensive tackle Will Echoles on the verge of becoming a first-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft? The fine folks at Pro Football Focus believe he could be.
Echoles, a native of Houston, Miss., has positioned himself as one of the college game’s top defenders on the interior of the defensive line. During the Rebels’ historic 2025 campaign, he registered 32 tackles, five sacks, seven quarterback hurries and was often an immovable force in the middle of the Ole Miss defensive line.
Pro Football Focus rates Echoles as the No. 32 overall player who is eligible for next year’s draft.
“Echoles transitioned from one side of the trenches to the other only a few years ago. His production speaks for itself. He led all Power Four interior linemen in pressures (39) and defensive stops (35) last season,” wrote Pro Football Focus.
At No. 32, Echoles would be the first Rebel to be selected in the 2027 draft class.
If anyone is guessing, the second Ole Miss Rebel to be taken would be running back Kewan Lacy per Pro Football Focus at pick No. 42.
“Lacy led college football in rushing first downs last season, but his five drops were also the most among running backs. If he declares early, teams will be intrigued by his youth, ideal build and clear ability to shoulder an RB1 workload,” said PFF.
