Coach Yo’ with Penn State portal signee Rachel Okokoh.
Ole Miss women’s basketball and head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin have done it again. McPhee-McCuin and the Rebels have signed their fifth transfer portal player this week. This time, the Rebels signed Penn State freshman Rachel Okokoh.
Okokoh arrives in Oxford with potentially four years of eligibility, owning a redshirt year that she could employ. As a true freshman at Penn State, she played in 25 games, averaging 1.1 points and 1.6 rebounds per game, adding six steals and six blocks on the defensive end. She averaged just six minutes per game.
Okokoh is a native of Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
“Rachael’s commitment has finalized our interior need,” said McPhee-McCuin. “Her best basketball is ahead of her. She’s athletic, skilled and has great basketball IQ. I expect Rachael to transition well to our league. She will impact us immediately.”
Entering the portal on Tuesday, Ole Miss worked quickly to obtain her services. She was in Oxford on an official visit earlier this week.
Okokoh is the fourth player to leave Penn State after the hiring of new head coach Tanisha Wright.
So far from the transfer portal, Ole Miss has signed Talaysia Cooper (Tennessee), Emily Howard (Boise State), Maya Anderson (San Jose State) and K’Nisha Godfrey (Florida). More are expected.
