Week one of spring ball is in the books for the Ole Miss football team, and on the horizon of his senior season, Suntarine Perkins looks to etch his name into the history books.
On the horizon sits a homegrown product, the Raleigh, Mississipi native has become a all-time Rebel great. Entering his final season of his collegiate career, Ole Miss linebacker Suntarine Perkins sits with 18.5 sacks, chasing the all time career record set by Greg Hardy with 26.5.
After a successful 2025 season, and helping lead Ole Miss to the College Football Playoffs, Perkins mindset is set on one thing, and that’s bringing the big one back home to Oxford.
“Mindset is to win a national championship.” – Ole Miss linebacker Suntarine Perkins
Three years have gone by Perkins, and what once seemed like the new guy on the block, Perkins is now a veteran, and will have to provide a big role from a vocal aspect. With performance, comes high expectations, and with so many new faces, Perkins is expected to step up in a variety of roles this season.
“I mean it goes pretty quick, we always get together we go out to dinner, go bowling. Little things like that, and just building a relationship with them.” – Ole Miss LB Suntarine Perkins on building relationships with new guys
With that leadership comes expectations, and it starts in the weight room. Listed at 6’1 210lbs last season, Perkins has added some noticeable size to his frame. According to Perkins he is now “222” pounds, which can be a valuable asset for this years Rebel defense.
With a strong season ahead, and new faces around him, much hasn’t changed from defensive coordinator Pete Golding and head coach Pete Golding. Expectations are still the same around the program, and with the goal of nothing else of bringing a championship home to Oxford, Perkins knows he will have to leave it all on the field this season to achieve that goal.
