Trinidad Chambliss has had quite the offseason. Not on the field, mind you, but in the courtroom battling the NCAA over his right to play another season of college football.
Chambliss won to no one’s surprise. Now he is firmly seated as the Ole Miss Rebels quarterback entering another season with expectations again centered on making the College Football Playoffs.
Except for a brief interview with OleMiss365.com after winning his Chancery Court hearing n Pittsboro, Miss., Chambliss spoke publicly for the first time this week and for the first time since the Mississippi Supreme Court upheld Judge Robert Whitwell’s decision in his case.
“It’s been kind of cray,” Chambliss said of his offseason, “a little hectic. I’m here now, so that’s all that matters.”
Chambliss is now the Ole Miss quarterback for one more season. Has it settled in yet that he beat the NCAA?
“Yeah, it’s definitely settled in,” he admitted. “I’m very excited to see the news (Supreme Court ruling) that came out Friday. Now I can just focus all of my attention to spring ball, making sure that our team is ready for then season.”

ON THE NEW WRs
Chambliss spoke on the wide receivers room which will feature transfers Johntay Cook, Traylon Ray, Horatio Fields, Darrell Gill, Cameron Miller and Isaiah Spencer, along with veteran Deuce Alexander and up-and-comers Caleb Cunningham and Dillon Alfred.
“I feel like we didn’t drop off…I guess…too much,” Chambliss related. “We got some dudes from Syracuse…Johntay Cook, Darrell Gill…that can play. Horatio Fields…he’s a big receiver. Then getting Caleb going. I’m definitely looking forward to getting those guys going, creating that chemistry.”

A NEW PLAY-CALLER
Chambliss will be working with a new offensive coordinator this season with the departure of Charlie Weis Jr. and Lane Kiffin to rival LSU. head coach Pete Golding turned to John David Baker, who spent last season calling plays at East Carolina…very successfully we might add.
Baker once worked under Kiffin at Ole Miss.
“It’s a lot of similarities. He was here in from 2020 through 2022 with Kif, so he knows the offense. It’s basically the same offense. he has some new plays and new terminology we have to learn, but overall it’;s the same thing.”
Chambliss also holds a close relationship with Ole Miss quarterbacks coach Joe Judge, who offered compelling testimony on his behalf during his hearing in the Chancery Court at Pittsboro, Miss.
